Ketchikan’s Wearable Arts Show dates all the way back to 1987. Since then, the performance has garnered statewide attention — For many local residents and members of the art community, it is THE EVENT OF THE YEAR. Last year the spectacular event was put on hold due to the pandemic. This year organizers have put together a lineup of events that will not disappoint. As they say in the biz, the show must go on. Here’s the April 15-18, 2021 lineup of events:
WEARABLE FILM SCREENING
Thursday, April 15 at 9:30pm at the Gross Alaska Coliseum Theatre.
“Mixed Up” the 35th annual wearable art show film screening was filmed by KPU at The Mill at Ward Cove and is made possible by a grant from the Rasmuson Foundation. Call (907) 225-2211 to purchase advance tickets. Tickets cost $25/person. None will be sold at the door.
WEARABLE ART WALK
Friday, April 16 from 5-8pm at a variety of downtown locations.
Enjoy shopping for new art, great food and music. Wearable artists will model their creations in selected storefront windows. This event is free to the public.
WEARABLE ART SHOW COMMUNITY FUN RUN
Saturday, April 17 at 5pm starts at Bawden Street Brewing Co and ends at Bar Harbor Ale House. Wear your own wearable creation (or borrow one from a friend). This event is a collaboration with the Ketchikan Running Club and free to the public.
“MIXED UP” THE 35th WEARABLE ART SHOW ON DEMAND
Saturday, April 17 at 7pm. Purchase your ticket at www.KetchikanArts.org and receive a link to stream the video. The cost is $25/per single or $45/per viewing party.
All events will observe limited capacity, EOC and CDC mask and distance recommendations.
