Allen Marine Tours: eagles and whales and bears, oh my!

Catamaran, Tours, Ketchikan

Neets Bay is one of the most productive salmon hatcheries in Southeast Alaska and Allen Marine Tours will take you there. Hop on a catamaran and listen to a naturalist provide local insight and share stories as you cruise past Ketchikan International Airport, Port Gravina, Ward Cove, Totem Bight State Park and Guard Island Lighthouse.

Neets Bay is home to bald eagles, seals and black bears who feast on the salmon returning upstream each year. The tour also offers chance sightings of humpback sea lions, whales and orcas.

After getting your fill of wildlife, enjoy the return cruise to Knudson Cove where 14 passenger vans await at the end of a short, uphill walk.

After disembarking the catamaran at Pier 25, you’ll end the trip with a scenic coastal drive down the North Tongass Highway as your driver/guide provides commentary on the way back to Ketchikan’s newest port “The Mill at Ward Cove” — stay on the lookout, you just might see another bear or two.
