The Ketchikan Gateway Borough (KGB) has partnered with Confluence Sustainability and the George Washington University International Institute of Tourism Studies with the intent to develop a tourism destination management strategy.
Working directly with the community, The Ketchikan Gateway Borough hopes to define a shared vision for tourism growth and its management. The Ketchikan Borough’s future tourism strategy aims to foster destination stewardship and improve the coordinated management of all the elements that make up the tourism economy. KGB will focus on balancing the expectations of visitors with the needs of local residents, businesses and the environment.
KGB Planning Director Richard Harney is the project contact for this four phase project slated for completion February 24, 2023. In the meantime, Ketchikan-area residence can get involved by sharing thoughts at KGB’s online portal and emailing comments to firstname.lastname@example.org.
